It's the http://www.investitwisely.com/…..e-in-2011/ article account for 95% of overall SE traffic, and 95% of my SE traffic also comes from Google.
I was extremely lucky to have gotten picked up by two major sites (I was and am honestly surprised but pleased at the same time!). However, I'd like to diversify a bit. I'm happy to have hit one home run but a bit nervous, too, since it's like my eggs are all in one basket.
Do you guys have a similar experience or is it more spread out across your articles?
P.S. To those who took part in the "challenging conventional thinking" roundup at the end of the post, have you noticed any associated benefits?

My SE traffic comes from a few articles too. That is making me nervous and for good reason. I had a end of the year article type that brought me all the traffic, then died. Now I have another article that is doing well, but it will stop on Feb 14. That is the problem with seasonal posts, but if you hit it off with a pillar post, then that might do well year after year so less reason to worry about I suppose.
I was on vacation around the time of the unconventional series I guess, so I didn't participate.

My total traffic is 70% from SE – and most of that is from 3 or 4 articles.

I definitely saw a traffic benefit from your post linking to mine. It was great! But my general traffic was spread out all over the place. However, this one article that I wrote participating in your project was definitely a hit. Thanks to you!

I have two articles that account for the bulk of my traffic, as well as one that I think will be a Christmas seasonal one (it was getting a ton of traffic, then faded, but it ranked on Page 1 of Google, so we shall see next Christmas).
I also get a ton of "long-tail" searches that hit my site, which is great. People have some odd ways of finding me on the internet!

I have 5 articles that account for about half of my pageviews. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

there are a few that get more than their fair share, but for the most part the spread is pretty wide. did you proactively do anything to ensure this particular article reached the stars?

I would say that close to 95% of my search engine traffic comes from this article below. It's a comparison between Vanguard and Fidelity. It's interesting to hear that most of us have similar experiences!

Nope! I was just lucky that it got picked up.
